Alfie Goodrich | Photographer in Tokyo

Photographer: Alfie Japanorama

Had a wonderful time modeling for a photography class in Hidecho, Yokohama, Japan

Alfie teaches photography around Tokyo doing photo walks and similar shoots like the one we did on Saturday

Definitely one of the best photographers I have ever worked with and he also taught me a lot about photography and gave me feedback on poses

It was a bit surreal going back to the city I was born in, especially since I was adopted by a White-American Navy family

Modeling provided me with a way to reconnect with my lost culture while having very little knowledge of Japanese culture and an extremely limited amount of Japanese vocabulary

Feedback about the shoot so far:

“That’s an awesome pose… loving the punchy reds of her lipstick… and the setting/bokeh are outstanding!”

“Yep, Eric… she really knows what she is doing. With a little direction at first, she’s off and rolling and in the flow. Great thing about Akari is she switches on the moment a camera is pointing at her and she has an instinctive feeling for when, exactly, the camera IS pointing at her. Thanks man.”

“wow amazing…”

“Great shot !! The colors really pop ! Great pose too.”

“She looks so amazing”

One more view of Fuji that’s gone
Shot from the roof of our flat a year or so ago. A new 14-floor building about 500metres from our place has now killed this view.

My first view of Mount Fuji
Shot this more than ten years ago. The view has gone now; big building in between this vantage point and Shinjuku.

Every picture tells a story
This view straight down from my hotel room in Hokkaido, December 2007, had me guessing for a while. :-)
